A few online cooking course FAQs!

How do Online Cooking Courses Work?

This depends massively upon the online cooking course.

Most online cooking courses are taught through a series of videos and printable guide books.

Normally these will be on an e-learning platform of some sort that you will be able to access on any computer device.

Can I Learn to Cook Online?

You can definitely learn to cook online. But, in order to learn the skills you watch and read about you should also practice in your own kitchen.

Some people choose to read the online cooking course material first and then attempt to cook, others prefer doing them both at the same time. What works best for you will depend upon your learning style.

How Long Does it Take to Learn How to Cook Online?

This depends upon what you are wanting to learn. If you are taking an online cooking course on pastry this may take longer to master than an online cooking course on easy weeknight dinners.

Moreover, if you are looking for an online chef course then this will require more time and dedication from yourself than an online cooking course which covers just a few recipes.

We cover all these types of courses in the article so you can learn more about what each requires.

Some online cooking courses also offer 1-to-1 support and/or lessons.

These are normally arranged with your cooking course tutor.

Turning up in-person to a cooking course puts you under a lot more pressure than taking the course from your own home.

You can follow these online vegan cookery courses at your own pace to fit around your life.

In addition to this, travel is a lot more restricted now than it was before. And social distancing methods are making it harder to attend vegan cooking courses in person.

Online courses are the answer to all our pandemic problems!

The Vegan Cooking Courses Covered Here

We’ve covered a range of courses here, with different prices.

As a whole, they are much cheaper than in-person courses – mostly because they are digital products that don’t require the teacher’s physical presence.

And last of all, you can learn how to cook vegan food from many different cuisines, all around the globe. Tapping into a world of knowledge, all from your house.

That will really impress your mates and loved ones!

What are you waiting for? Let’s get learning!

Can a Vegan be a Chef?

Yes! Most definitely. There are so many vegan restaurants popping up nowadays which means there is a constant increase in demand for vegan chefs. If you are vegan you’ll understand just how important it is to work with other vegans. So a vegan restaurant will most definitely want vegan chefs working for them.

Vegans can also take on chef work in non-vegan kitchens. Sometimes they may be put on a vegan or vegetarian section, or they may just be told to ‘suck it’ and deal with non-vegan food. That is up to the vegan chef to decide if they are happy with doing this.

Lucy (one half of the Vegan Sisters) is living proof of this. She used to be a professional vegan chef in London. She worked in a mix of vegan and non-vegan establishments. But she definitely always preferred to work in 100% vegan restaurants.

Why These Online Vegan Cooking Courses?

What we love about all the cooking courses that we have covered here is that they are 100% vegan, meaning you get to support actual vegan businesses whilst learning to cook delicious plant-based food.

Any downsides to Wicked Healthy’s Online Vegan Cooking Course?

Their courses are free, and so it is no surprise that they are in the form of a YouTube channel/playlist. This means there is no development through courses, or the benefits you’d normally get from an online course – downloadable materials, support, and a community.

It is great for those that are just looking to wet their toes though!

3. The Vegan Chef School

The Vegan Chef School is a cookery school based in London and pre-COVID was operating as a vegan vocational course training people to become vegan chefs. This included teaching essential culinary skills and providing them with intern experience in actual vegan kitchens.

Since the pandemic, they’ve moved their course online and now offer all of the same features, but online. It includes all the basics of working in kitchens, with ongoing mentoring and assessments.

Any downsides to The Vegan Chef School’s Online Vegan Cooking Course?

This course isn’t for those looking for a bit of fun, nor for those who are wanting an easy ride. The Vegan Chef School’s course is for those looking to become professionals.

What’s more, it is a bit on the pricey side, especially since you’ll need access to some more specialist equipment. After all, they are preparing you for a whole new career in cheffing.

4. Forks Over Knives

Forks Over Knives, known for their documentary that was aired on Netflix, alongside What the Health and Cowspiracy, have created their own online recipe platform and online vegan cookery course.
